My God, half a year has passed and I have not found any time to post something ...But nowadays it is really a problem. Facebook BBM, Text messages and so on will be fed and cost you quite a bit of time. I think it changes so much once you're settled down and that the exciting life as an immigrant turns into a everyday. The homesickness is less, everyday life gets more and more common and less and less contact with Germany. You start to live in the now and very exciting things like driving with the pickup truck through every dirt or snow pile, let the car run while shopping in the winter to actually keep it running or just blow the fresh snow away at -30 Celsius and less are totally normal. Sure, you still jump at any German beer bottle (last Ayinger and Hacker Pschorr) sometimes you die for pretzels (of course not as good as in Germany), but you also get excited about a great burger, or a nice big yummy peace of meat. You get used way to fast to Whisky-Coke, not so fast to the fact that you dont have to stop right in front of the traffic light, but on the other site of the street - otherwise you are standing right in the middle of the intersection. At least you never quit wondering why every product (bacon, vinegar, detergent and another two billion) have to contain sugar or starch, but i personal still don't really wonder about ingredients of wine or those turkeycuts in the delicious juice .... Ultimately, I now live in the city, which comes with lots more pleasure like less snow shoveling, less frequently car washing, but the roads are plowed so bad that I still have fun with the pick-up truck..So then Germany: Happy New Year 2011 and drop a line, whenever you want!
